Hooke's Law of elasticity is an approximation that states that the amount by which a material body is deformed (the strain) is linearly related to the force causing the deformation (the stress).
Formula
Force : Fx=-k(x-xo),
Spring Force Constant : k=Fx/(x-xo),
Distance from Equilibrium : xo=(Fx/k)+x,
Spring Equilibrium Position : x=xo-(fx/h)
where,
Fx = Force,
k = Spring Force Constant,
x =Distance from Equilibrium,
x0 = Spring Equilibrium Position.
Imporance of Hookes law
Hookes law is important because it helps us understand how a stretchy object will behave when it is stretched or compacted
Hooke's law states that within the elastic limit, stress developed is directly proportional to the strain produced in a body. According to the Hookes law, if strain increases the stress will increase and vice-versa. The Hooke's law is applicable to all elastic substances.
