Optical Instruments
An optical instrument either processes light waves to enhance an image for viewing, or analyzes light waves to determine one of a number of characteristic properties.
The optics word is very useful in physics which is related to the reflection of light. The instruments which are used in optics are optical instruments.
Thus, the optical instruments are the devices which are used in various purposes like microscope, telescopes, lens, magnifying lens, mirror, astronomical telescope, glass etc.
Optical instruments are the devices which process light wave to enhance an image for a more clear view. The use of optical instruments like magnifying lens or complicated devices like a microscope or telescope usually makes things bigger
Basically Lens are of the following types:
1. Concave Lens
2. Convex Lens.
Concave Lens :
If the curved surfaces sunk on both sides, they are called as Biconcave Lenses or Double Concave Lenses.
There are basically of three shapes:
1.Plano Concave Lens
2.Double Concave Lens
3.Convexo-Concave Lens
Convex Lens :
If the curved surfaces bulge out on both sides, they are called as biconvex lenses or double convex lenses. In practice, they are simply called as Convex lenses.
They are again of three types:
1.Plano-Convex Lens
2.Double-Convex Lens
3.Concavo-Convex Lens
