What is Hydrogen Ion Concentration?

Hydrogen ion concentration tells us the amount of hydrogen ions present in a solution. It is directly related to the pH value of the solution.

The hydrogen ion concentration can be calculated from pH using the formula:

[H+] = 10-pH

At 25°C, pH and pOH are related by:

pH + pOH = 14

Therefore:

pOH = 14 - pH

Enter a pH value above to calculate both pOH and hydrogen ion concentration.

How to Calculate H+ Concentration?

Suppose the pH of a solution is 3.

[H+] = 10-3

Therefore:

[H+] = 0.001 mol/L

The pOH is:

pOH = 14 - 3 = 11
